Louis J. Aronne, M.D.
Louis J. Aronne, MD, FACP is internationally recognized as a leading authority on obesity medicine. He is the Sanford I. Weill Professor of Metabolic Research at Weill-Cornell Medical College and Director of the Center for Weight Management and Metabolic Clinical Research. He has an adjunct appointment at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Aronne is a former president of The Obesity Society, a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, and Vice-chairman of the American Board of Obesity Medicine. He has authored more than 100 papers and book chapters on obesity medicine and has served as a consultant to the National Institutes of Health and the Veterans Administration to establish guidelines for medically-based weight control programs.
Rekha B. Kumar, M.D., M.S.
Rekha Kumar, MD, MS is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine and an Attending Endocrinologist at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. She is board-certified in internal medicine, diabetes, endocrinology, & metabolism, and obesity medicine. Her expertise in obesity medicine is widely recognized, and she serves as the Medical Director of the American Board of Obesity Medicine. She has lectured to physicians around the United States and addressed policy makers on Capitol Hill on the importance of treating obesity as a disease. Dr. Kumar has authored several papers and book chapters, and she works with international organizations to expand obesity medication education and fellowships around the world.
Jamie Kane, M.D.
Jamie Kane, MD is board certified in Internal Medicine and is a diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine. In addition to being the director for Northwell Health’s Center for Weight Management, he is an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine at Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and serves as the chief of its section of Obesity Medicine. Dr. Kane has previously held faculty positions at Yale University and New York University in addition to creating multiple obesity medicine programs. He has had more than 10 years of clinical expertise in weight management in both university and private practice settings.
Holly Lofton, M.D.
Holly Lofton, MD is Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine and Assistant Professor of Surgery at the New York University Langone Medical Center. She served on the bariatric medicine committee for the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, as well as on the advisory board and board of directors for the Obesity Action Coalition. She designed the New You™ program to help people obtain results while learning about incorporating nutrition into a healthy lifestyle. Dr. Lofton’s research examines the effects of liraglutide in patients after bariatric surgery. She educates students at NYU School of Medicine in diagnostic and treatment techniques for people with obesity.
Judith Korner, M.D., Ph.D.
Judith Korner, MD, PhD is Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine and Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism at New York Presbyterian/ Columbia University Irving Medical Center where she is also Director of the Weight Control Center. Dr. Korner is a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine for which she serves as Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors. Dr. Korner’s NIH-funded research is focused on the pathophysiology and treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes with an emphasis on the mechanisms of weight loss and improvement in diabetes after bariatric surgery. She has published original research papers in addition to review articles and book chapters on obesity.
Beverly G. Tchang, M.D.
Beverly Tchang, MD serves as Assistant Attending Endocrinologist and Instructor of Medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. She is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Diabetes, & Metabolism, and Obesity Medicine. She serves as a reviewer for several obesity medicine journals and regularly participates as a presenter or an invited speaker at regional conferences. She fosters interdisciplinary collaborations and investigations to publish in high-impact journals. Dr. Tchang organizes the Weill Cornell Obesity Medicine Fellowship Didactics and serves on the Programming Committee of The Obesity Society.
