Dr. Doug Lambert of Northwell Health provides an introduction to nutrition for health and weight management as well as 2023 updates

About the event
Dr. Lambert will be providing an overview and updates on research examining caloric restriction and various ad libitum diets for weight loss. He will review mechanisms of weight loss using each dietary approach, along with summaries of study outcomes. He will close with a broad overview of the state of weight loss nutrition research, and will review competing paradigms of the nutritional pathogenesis of obesity.
Douglas Lambert MD MPH is an obesity medicine clinician and early career research at Northwell Health's Center for Weight Management. He attended medical school at University of Connecticut, and internal medicine training at Montefiore Medical Center. After a fellowship in Obesity Medicine at Northwell Health, Dr. Lambert has continued as a clinician, researcher, and educator at Northwell. He currently devotes half of his time to research activities. Most recently, Dr. Lambert has received funding from Northwell to conduct qualitative and survey research to inform an ongoing whole food, low fat dietary program for Northwell Health patients. Dr. Lambert's core research aim is developing modalities within dietary intervention programs that optimize patient adherence through the application of behavior change psychology. Dr. Lambert guides most of his patients in adopting whole food low-fat dietary changes to optimize weight loss.
